Hello,

I am currently debating on the question:

“Is the Sun the factor that controls our climate the most?”

Some of my colleagues say that the Sun is the most important factor controlling our climate.
I do not agree with them and think that the location and water content is a major factor as well. Even though the Sun probably has the biggest influence on our temperature, I would say it is not the most important ingredient in our climates. Our star does provide us with heat however it is up to the Earth to interacts with that temperature. For example there are places on the same longitude that have very different climates. This is a quick summation of the argument.

I am wondering what you think?
Anything will be helpful

Thank you,
Vassil

a. Temperature in the air is increased by the process of moisture condensation
b. The limits at which the air contains as much moisture as it can hold for a given temperature is called sublimation point.

(These both sound false to me, but I can only chose one false answer!)

Channel 4 ran a documentary 8 March debunking global warning. Emminent scientists appeared to prove that carbon emmissions being emitted are so insignificant as to be inconsequential. Is the debate being sexed-up for other than altruistic reasons?

I live in the west midlands, UK, I remember a couple of occasions around 1983-4 when the night sky would be frequently lit by bright flashes. The one night in particular I remember, It was not a thunderstorm, not raining, but every few minutes the sky would be lit, this went on for at least an hour I was out in it, I cant remember any noise but I was in a car (no radio on).
I'm of pretty rational mind and I can't think what this could of been. Theres no military test ranges around and it didn't seem to be lightning. Any one remember this?

Okay I was told that Straw that is grown in the field could actually pierce a wooden wall (I was told a barn wall), at hurricane or tornado wind speeds. IS this possible? Any one seen this one on Mythbusters?
