dear vassil - Good question. What governs the motion of the atmosphere and our climate is a combination of the Sun's radiation on the Earth, the Earth's orbit, its inclination to its orbit, and the existence of our oceans. All four are of critical importance as far as our climate is concerned. A change in any one of these would have a dramatic effect on our climate.

If ur asking which is the factor that controls our climate the most , id say surely its the sun but also water and the loccation r important factors.Remember scientists say that after a lot of years there wont be anymore life on earth, and that will happen because the sun will be nearer the earth and the climate will be destroyed

No Sun = No climate at all.
Mountains and valleys would have no effect if there were no heat on the planet. Everything would freeze. Geography is an important part of the climate but not the most important.

All climatic and weather variations are the result of unequally heating of the surface of the earth. It's all about trying to bring about atmospheric equilibrium. If the sun heated all parts of the earth equally and we had temperature equilibrium, then we would have no seasonal or daily variation of the weather.

I would say that the sun is the most important thing- bear in mind that wind and "fronts" are created by the power from the sun. Without the power from the sun, we wouldnt get rain! So while other factors are important, its the sun the creates those other factors!

i'm biased, because of the fact it rather is my component of study, yet i think of GPS meteorology provides a super kind of bang for the dollar. i'd like to work out a dense community of GPS receivers primary around the international, and fastened on buoys interior the oceans. this would not purely provide us (at last) tips approximately how the distribution of water vapor via the ambience is changing, if the information ought to be accessed in authentic-time it might very much improve numerical climate forecast fashions. those comparable sensors (a minimum of the floor-based ones) could be used for authentic-time earthquake warnings and study of plate action. additionally GPS radio occultation would desire to at last supply an self sustaining and precise degree of world temperature.

I would say that it is a combination of the sun with moisture and wind.
Although in my opinion the biggest influence on the climate is the human factor. Greenhouse gases and pollution since the industrial revolution have altered the climate and weather more than it has been changed in the millions of years before that combined.

"The tilt in the axis (of the earth) leads to a contrast in temperatures between the tropics and the poles. The atmosphere and oceans are trying to balance... This uneven heating of the earth by THE SUN is the reason for weather."

The sun certainly is.
Without the light from the sun, we wouldn't even have a gas phase atmosphere.

i think it is beacuse of solar wind and its effect on the greenhouse effect and i was watching this documentary on channel 4 some time ago, and i think it backed up my theory anyway and it was backed up again by scientific facts so i think so to but also i think its to come to terms with the water aswell and it does have some affect so there u go m8
