Hi,

I live in Florida and I would like some personal highlights about being an LPN, or RN.
I am especially interested in stories posted by other Floridians. Please share where you work, how long, your wages, etc, if you do not mind. I have been trying to go back to school, but have been busy with children and my current employment. I recently got an offer of management at my current place of work and I am considering it. But this would leave no time for school. I am weighing my options and really want to be a nurse. Also, I just turned 29 and feel this new sense of urgency. I work behind the scenes in retail (warehouse) and it's just not something I can see myself doing forever, but the pay and benefits are excellent for management. I would greatly appreciate real opinions/stories by nurses themselves or people very close or living with someone who is a nurse.
Thank you so much!

My left nipples, well under it and around it, has gotten a little bigger. It is a little red, hurts a little when I press on it. It is like a dougnut under my skin that surrounds the nipples. I started taking some meds for lasik surgury and some multi-vitimens. Could these cause a lump like this? im sure it is not cancer, since it is not a small random bump. Some input would be much appriecated.

I've recently gone back to school to finish my nursing degree and a lot of the students, even the older students that have had prior college courses, keep complaining about the amount of chemistry that we need to know...I'm all for learning in college...and I know that learning chemistry is important, but their arguement is that "Everything is done by computer!" I was an Army EMT, so I guess that doing and knowing things at a basic level is vital because you never know what to expect...but I was just wondering from all of the health care workers out there...just to prove my point...at a personal level...How important to nursing is studying chemistry and knowing how to calculate meds...thank you for any input...Diana

I am taking a medical assistant course and it seems that I'm never going to get the hang of converting dosages. Has anyone else ever had this trouble? Here is a sample question. If someone can answer it, will you provide how you came to the solution of the answer? Thank you so much! Dr orders 3mg of Ativan IM. You have a 10mL vial of Ativan 2mg/mL on hand. How many mL will you give the patient?

Which specific blood test data does a physician or lab tech check to verify -in layman's terms- blood "thickness" or not ?. In other words, clotting ability ?

I am totally out of my waters here.

Not a test question...I'm way past school age.

TIA !

This is a question for a pharmacy school application. I am kind of confused about how to strat and what to write in the response.

PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
What insight into the human condition will you bring to your studies at our institute?

For this question you should summarize what you believe you have learned about the nature of humanity and how that will impact your tenure as a student at UCSF and your future as a pharmacist.

Please give some advises, thank you guys so much!

There so much going into researching space. What about the rain forest? As far as I know, space is going to be around a lot longer than the rain forest the way we are chopping down the trees and destructing it! I think we should be thinking more about the tropical rain forests first! To find unknown species and cures for cancer, hiv/aids, and other dieses needing cures! Which do you think is more important to study?

This is driving me nuts. What is the area just below your nose, and above your upper lip called? I'm talking about the little grooved area right in the center; where a man (or frightening woman) would grow a Hitler-style moustache. Am I making sense here?

I'm looking for an ANATOMICAL answer only, no rude or moronic answers or I'll have you flagged.

I've heard a few different things on the different types of shock. Doing an internet search gives me different answers. If anyone has a RECENT answer on how many types of shock there are, their names, and information on them I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, please list a web address if you KNOW that it is legitimate and up to date.
Thank you!

I'm scheduled for a urinalysis, but I smoked some weed at a party and am now afraid that I will fail the test. Is there any way to clean my pee before the test. I tried Niacin, but the bottle does not give good instructions on use and I fear overdose, and I have heard that you can have some pretty freaky side effects. Help!!!!!!
