I have a 4 inch pipe supplying water at 6.7 bar pressure to hotel rooms in a 4 story block.
Connected into the 4 inch main feed pipe are a number of Risers to the floors which are 1 inch pipe.
Each riser supplies water to 2 rooms each on the 4 floors making a total of 8 rooms.
Each room has a shower, a vanity sink and a toilet.
The piping to each of the above utilities is further reduced from the 1 inch riser to 1/2 inch.
Problem: If a number of rooms is using the shower at the same time, the water pressure to the 4th floor is almost zero.
Question 1: What is the formula for working out the pressure drop to the 2nd 3rd and 4th floors.
At the present time the 4th floor rooms are the main problem areas.
Question 2: how do I increase the volume of water without increasing either the pressure, or the size of the main riser pipe.
Note: The main 4 inch supply pipe has 32 1 inch risers tapped into it thus supplying 128 rooms.

You have been asked to design a solar water heating system for a family of four. The family uses 100 gallons per day of hot water at 50 degrees Celcius. The cold water enters the house at 5 degrees Celcius. The solar collector heats the cold water to 75 degrees Celcius and stores it in an insulated storage tank until the family needs it. The sun shines for an average of 7 hours per day and provides 235 Watts per meter squared. Determine the size of the storage tank and the size of the collector.

I am working on a school physics project and I need a resistor wire that will overheat enough when attached to a 9V battery that it will ignite a phosphorous match head. I am hoping that there is a common household wire that will do the trick.

* We need to design a logic circuit to control an elevator door in a three-floors bldg. The circuit has four inputs. M is a logic signal that indicates when the elevator is mocing (M=1) or stopped (M=0). F1, F2, and F3 are floor indicator signals that are normally LOW, and they go HIGH only when the elevator is positioned at the level of that particular floor. For example, when the elevator is lined up level the second floor, F2=1 and F1=F3=0.
* The circuit output is the open signal which is normally LOW and is to go HIGH when the elevator door is to be opened.
* design the logic circuit to produce an OPEN door for stated conditions: simplify the expression and implement the circuit in gates.
