Any additional information for GA resident and can i do it my self

You can use solar to power anything you want. Right now wind power is more efficient and probably less costly. But if you wanna do panels here is some info.

A window unit uses about 1440 watts at the max, so you would need a solar array that would be able to supply 1440 watts.

Once you do the math in running power required and starting power required, you will realize that the panel needed will be huge. If you put it on your roof, being generally black, it will radiate considerable heat from what it adsorbs from the sun. (adding to the AC demand) To overcome the surge required to start the AC unit, you will need a battery bank to go along with your inverter to get 60 cycle power. Unless you can get everything almost free, the price will be amazing.

Theoratically you can run any thing on solar energy that runs on mains. The cost is the question. Solar energy is very costly compared to coal-energy and only pays it self off in years to come

No. You would need to tie the solar power into the grid and then use the grid to power the A/C
