Hey guys, I am transfering to a 4-year institution next fall and I am applying for scholarships. Theres this question that made me think and even have doubts. Why did I choose Industrial Engineering? I know I love problem solving, math, science, and anything that involves critical thinking, but how do I explain that? I know I am not giving too many clues, but I am not asking to answer the question for me, I am just confused. Help?

My g/f wants to bring a treadmill to the UK from the States, now I know there is a voltage difference, I can sort that, but, they are on 60 hz, we are on 50....my question....should that make a great deal of difference to the motor?.....it may upset the electronics a little, but not too much. I am a qualified electronics engineer, but can't quite get my head round this one!!

im trying to build an electrolysis thingy to clean some stuff up, the plans i have say i need an ac/dc converter and suggests 6-12 Volts and 250-500 mili-Amps, i dont know much about electronics and was wondering if a 9v battery would work as a substitute power supply since theyre cheaper and id feel safer not cutting up stuff plugged into the wall and putting it in water

we know the conventional FWR wit centre tapped transformer and etc......
let us try another thing.this is relatively less famous...
using two diodes in parallel...but one is connected in P-N while the other N-P...
basic logic is that total voltage will appear across both, but only one will conduct during a half cycle.....
obviously this is more economical...
why dont we use this.......
there must be some major disadvantage...
point that out to me...
thanks.............

The toy looks like two cones with the bases stuck together. It comes with a a slope, whose base is shaped like a triangle. When the double cone is put on the narrow and lower end of the slope, it will roll up the slope to the top where the width of the slope is much wider. I know the reason for it doing this is something to do with the centre of mass, but don't understand why.
