The current tallest building is the Taipei 101, a 101-floor landmark skyscraper located in Taipei, Taiwan. Designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners and constructed by KTRT Joint Venture, it is currently the tallest building in the world by three of the four standards designated by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Its original name was Taipei Financial Centre, based on its official Chinese name: the Taipei International Financial Center. The building is the 2004 recipient of the Emporis Skyscraper Award. Taipei 101 was named "Taipei 101" because the building is in Taipei and contains 101 floors.

I say current because of the Burj Dubai in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The current estimate is 643.3 m to the roof, but they has been discusing making it over 1,000+ m.

the current tallest building is in dubai, burj dubai, built along the highway connecting dubai and abu dhabi. Its planned number of floors is not being disclosed as, from what i heard, they plan to raise it to as much as possible. Currently, i think its about 150 floors high, and the pace of construction is at 2 floors per day. I think it is supposed to be done by 2009. Three giant construction companies has been contracted for the building. Dubai is a place of wonder! Their thoughts are based on past time fantasies made possible.

I know it's one in Dubai, called Burj Dubai !
Its final height is officially being kept a secret due to competition however, figures released by a contractor on the project have suggested a height of around 808 metres.

The design of Burj Dubai is ostensibly derived from the patterning systems embodied in Islamic architecture. The tower is composed of three elements arranged around a central core. As the tower rises from the flat desert base, setbacks occur at each element in an upward spiraling pattern, decreasing the cross section of the tower as it reaches toward the sky. At the top, the central core emerges and is sculpted to form a finishing spire. A Y-shaped floor plan maximizes views of the Persian Gulf.
