Hey guys, I am transfering to a 4-year institution next fall and I am applying for scholarships. Theres this question that made me think and even have doubts. Why did I choose Industrial Engineering? I know I love problem solving, math, science, and anything that involves critical thinking, but how do I explain that? I know I am not giving too many clues, but I am not asking to answer the question for me, I am just confused. Help?

There are quite a few areas of engineering available to you. All of them will allow you to use the skills you mention as engineering is a process of problem solving using many skills and methods. You should try to find where your true talent and desires meet to choose a discipline in engineering. If you enjoy taking things apart, putting them back together and making them work better than before, then consider mechanical engineering. If you happen to be one of those that understands that electricity can do more than shock the hell out of you and why, then consider electrical engineering. If you find yourself digging your own swimming pool or laying out the foundation for your new house, consider civil engineering. I won't go any further for the chem-E's, but I'm sure you understand the principle here. Talent and desire will make you the best use of your education. Good luck!!!
