I have noticed that some religious fundementalists possess deep-seaded distrust of science. They seem to be afraid of many different types of scientific discovery, and I would simply like to know why. Why are some people afraid of the big bang, global warming, evolution, plate tetonics, heliocentric solar systems, stem cell research, and conservation biology? Please feel free to respond specifically or generally, but I would appreciate thoughtful answers over diatribes.

Science claims that the current species of mankind, the Homo Sapiens appeared about 90,000 years ago in Northern Africa. Humans have evolved on a constant basis both in skeleton structure, skin color, and regional characteristics. Where and what will happen to us next?
