If the clumps of hair known as eyebrows are there for eye protection, what purpose do the clumps of hair on other parts of the body serve. There seems to be no logical explaination.

Our hair proves to have similar uses as a dogs fur. For warmth, and protection. Our eyebrows and eyelashes help keep dust and unwanted things out of our eyes, though sometimes things manage to get in our eyes anyway. While the rest of our hair may just be there to keep us warm.

I think the hair we have left is for advertising purposes. Arm and leg hair is merely protective and it's evolving out so I'm just referring to pubic and underarm hair.... where we have lots of sweat glands and other "objects of intrest" to the opposite sex. Hair holds odor and odor carries pheramones and those are what let the opposite sex know if we're looking for loving ;) Although, that may disappear eventually as well.

Hair generally acts as a kind of temperature control system for the body, either by keeping us warm in cold temperature or by keeping sweat close to our body to cool us in hot temperatures. Specific portions of our body have more hair than others because of the necessity in those areas; we sweat the most under our armpits, we need to keep a specific maintained temperature in our pubic regions, we lose most of our heat through our head. In each instance, we have evolved to take full advantage of our hair where we most need it, while evolving away from excessive hair where the advent of technology (fire, shelter) has made it unnecessary to be covered completely in thick hair.
