It's well known that the Mayans were great at astronomy and math. That date does have scientific significance. On that day our sun will have completed a 25,800 year voyage around the Milky Way Galaxy. But here's where it gets interesting, the sun will also be in alignment with the equator Milky Way. It will pass from the southern hemisphere, to the equator, finally; to the northern hemi. On a small scale, (I know this is a weak argument), toilets flush in different directions depending on which hemisphere you are on. Does anyone think there is anything to this. Could our magnetic field or anything important like that reverse itself? Could our sun by negatively affected? I would like to know what theories about this event are out there. No offense, but please make responses closer to scientific thinking than religious thinking. I think all toilets will cease to flush! Happy New Galaxy! :)

having a set of thousands of objects falling into the hole in a line. At a moment in time the object that is nearest the black hole inside the event horizon takes photos of what it looks like within the black hole. This digital information is immediately transmitted to the next object just outside where it is then transmitted out to the next object behind it.
At a point in time the transmission is across the line of the event horizon, and let us say that the two objects are only one meter apart. Although it would not be possible for light and radio waves to get the whole way out, gravity is not strong enough to prevent the radio waves from crossing that short distance.
Then once the information is outside the event horizon, and it can be transmitted out in the normal way.

Would this be a way (obviously in theory only) to view the insides of a black hole?

Just curious.

Many popular science books make reference to black holes. When I picture a black hole, I tend to think of it as a pin-hole in a balloon....I think of this balloon as a universe surrounded by much less dense region. In this way, I think of a black hole like the drain at the bottom of a bathtub, with the matter sucked into it escaping into some other unknown region.

I visualize the black hole this way because I tend of think of the universe like a big balloon (with boundaries). I know this is not correct, but my brain can't imagine a black hole floating freely about in the "balloon's" empty internal volume. Where would the matter escape too?

Question-In-Summary: How should I visualize black holes using some earthly metaphor?

I consider carl like a father for earth.
He approached every topic with imagination and skeptisism
He was open minded and took even the most obserd scientific claims seriously until they were discredited by fact.

I try to emulate this sense of courage and intelligence in my life.

by the time of his death in dec 20 1996 crop circles were taking shape.

Did he speak openly regarding this issue?
Is there somewhere I can read about this?
Please help

My fella watches it all the time and tries to explain a lot of the background etc to me but i often end up completely confused.
I think i've discovered a flaw that even he cant answer though.
When they dial out to go visit anouther planet, it has often been said that it is impossible to go both ways through the gate. Eg. You have to go one way and re-dial it at the other end to come back again.
So, when thay send the MALP through to check the coast is clear, how do they recieve the radio signal back at stargate command. the same goes for radio contact between sg1 and command.
