I did a lab on science class and the teachers gave us some questions to add to our lab report.
It says, write the chemical equation for soap production. (it may be unbalanced)

I reall have no idea what to do..

What we used was
*Castor oil
*Sodium Hydroxide (20%) - NaOH
*Sodium Chloride (salt) - NaCl

and we ended up with soap.

Please help i would gladly appreciate it.

I dont understand how early hominids with stone tools could colonise the americas/australasia/pacific islands long before the white man met them. Humans originated in africa and there are so many land masses not connected to africa which have a 'native' human population. Surely they didn't sail the seven seas in wooden canoes?!

Can someone give me some good examples of the difference between heat energy and temperature?

I know that heat energy is the total kinetic energy of all the atoms in a substance and that temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of all the atoms in a body, but I would like to have a few different examples of this to better understand it.

Our chemistry class is going over radiation, and I just have a few questions.

For Beta decay, does a neutron turn into a proton and electron, and then the electron given off as a Beta particle? And if so, how does this happen?
Also, how does a proton and electron turn into a neutron in Electron Capture?

And what is the decay constant?
Also, for the equation: Rate = k[A] where k=decay constant and [A] is the amount of material, what can be plugged in for the rate? If half-life is plugged into for the rate, does the equation work?

Explain as to why a constant wind causes the time of a round trip of an air plane to increase versus no wind? Give an example and calculate the round trip time with and without a constant wind. Do not discuss the physics of wind resistance. Rather discuss the mathematics of the round trip time and average speed of the plane with and without the wind.

A similar example is dollar cost averaging of buying stock. Dollar cost averaging of buying stock is to buy stock at periodic intervals by investing the same amount at each interval. For example, you invest $500 a month for 4 months for a total of $2000. If the stock price prices for the 4 months are $10/shr, $12/shr, $8/shr, and $10/shr, how many shares would you buy? How many shares would you buy if the average cost were $10/shr? How is this similar to the average speed of the round trip plane flight with a constant wind in a single direction?
