What happens to the crust as mountains are worn down?

As mountains are worn down they are tuned to sediment (sand, silt, clay) some of it is tuned to dirt, most of it is deposited, buried, and over time turns into sedimentary rock (sandstone, mudstone, etc.) That rock it either eroded again, metamorphosed, or melted to become igneous rock.

as some tectonic plates push up against each other creating the mountains, others slide under their neighbours.

erosion by any means is just part of the cycle... It sort of balances out, we hope

The rock is turned into sediment which is turned into dirt.
