First: find the square root of both sides.
√(10 - 7x)^2 = +/- √11
10 - 7x = +/- √11
Sec: subtract 10 from both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).
10-10 - 7x = -10 +/- √11
- 7x = -10 +/- √11
Third: isolate "x" - divide both sides by -7.
- 7x/-7 = (-10 +/- √11)/(-7)
x = (-10+/- √11)/(-7)
OR, x = -10/-7+(√11)/(-7)
==> 10/7+(√11)/(-7) & 10/7 - (√11)/(-7)

Expand the left side to give 49x^2 -140x + 100 = 11. Subtract 11 from both sides to give 49x^2 - 140x + 89 = 0. You can't factor that mess, so use the quadratic formula to get the two roots.

Oy, vey!
Well...I would take the square root of both sides of the equation. Then I'd subtract ten from the right side, and divide both sides by seven to get what x equals.
So it should look a little something like:
x=((+/- square root of 11)-10)/7
That might be wrong, though. You might have to factor the lefst side and then solve for x...

Multiply first
100-140x+49x^2 = 11
Set = 0
49x^2 -140x +89=0
This doesn't look factorable so now you would use the Quadratic formula
