A small metal ball is suspended from the ceil-
ing by a thread of negligible mass. The ball
is then set in motion in a horizontal circle so
that the thread describes a cone.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2.
What is the speed of the ball when it is in
circular motion? Answer in units of m/s.
How long does it take Tperiod for the ball to
rotate once around the axis? Answer in units
of s.

A 6.6 kg mass on a frictionless inclined sur-
face is connected to a 2.4 kg mass. The pulley
is massless and frictionless, and the connect-
ing string is massless and does not stretch.
The 2.4 kg mass is acted upon by an upward
force of 5.6 N, and thus has a downward ac-
celeration of only 4.5 m/s2 .
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
What is the tension in the connecting
string? Answer in units of N.

For this one I got (a) = 429 N and (b)=226N
?

Is a net force being applied to an object when the object is moving downward
(a) with a constant acceleration of 9.8m/s^2
(b) with a constant velocity of 9.8 m/s^2?
Reasoning?
