imagine that you want to draw a 3d house in a computer screen... first, you have to make a representation of the house... as computers only understand numbres, you will have to use analytic geometry in order to make all the necessary points to draw the house have an numerical representation...

once you've got a way to store the house shape via numbers, there's rendering, i.e. drawing the house on the screen... you have to make use of projections, so the house will look realistic in 3d drawn in a flat surface like the computer screen... projections require tons of trigonometric calculations...
