THE QUESTION:

If the passing of five half-lives leaves 25.0mg of (superscript)90Sr, how much was present in the beginning?

THE EQUATION:
#Left = #Original * (1/2) [exponent]T/h
T= time
H= half life

i don't know how to solve this problem because it doesn't give info for the time OR the half life of Sr...what the heck does 'five half-lives' mean?

please help...thanks

I keep thinking of Terry Shivo. Would they have allowed psychics to read her mind so she could say if she wanted to live? I worked with the handicapped. Many couldn't talk. I couldn't "read their minds", but TRIED to "figure out" what they wanted. It was REALLY HARD TO DO..and gave me many headaches trying to understand them in order to help them. What a blessing it would be for them and their caretakers to have someone to help them speak..at least mentally. And that little girl who is handicapped & might get a hysterectomy...If a psychic could read her mind & know what SHE wants..or doesn't want. Wouldn't that be A GOOD THING?? Do "psychics" ever try to help those people who can't talk.?

I have 3 questions on my homework where I can't find any information in the notes or book. Can anyone help?

1. a star's brightness decreases with the square of the distance from the star. the power/ unit area reaching the Earth from the Sun equals 1370 watts/m2. What is the solar power / unit area reaching Saturn, which is at a distance of 9.5 AU

2. Some stellar remnants (essentially dead stars) can have surface temperatures as high as 30,000 K and yet have a luminocity of only 0.05 x the solar luminocity. What can explain this?
-they are very very small
-they are very very distant from earth
-they radiate in an undectable part of the electromagnetic spectrum

3. Consider a star with a surface temp of 21,500 K. In what part of the electromagnetic spectrum would the dominant spectral wavelength be observed?
-microwave
-infrared
-visible
-ultraviolet

I realized now, that I've might've seen paranormal things as a kid. I wasn't scared because I had no idea what it was I saw. Of course when you start growing up and start watching scary movies, you start getting scared. Well I don't remember everything but the one thing that stands out is an incident when I was 3 or 4 years old. I was sleeping with my parents on their bed one night and I woke up. I looked towards the dresser with a mirror in front of me and I noticed a shadow of a hand emerge from the back of the dresser. It waved at me and told me to come. So I got up and went to the dresser and looked but it didn't appear again. Another instance was a couple of years after when I was 6 I think. My cousin and I were playing on top of my aunts bed with the TV on in the background. There wasn't any channel on, just static, but we didn't mind. So we were sort of talking when we both saw a face appear, like a monster's face. It said something and then the TV shut off. We both ran away.
