If you inhale it that can cause chemical pneumonia (It is classified as a poisonous gas). If it spills into your eyes it will react with the moisture there to make hydrochloric acid that can blind you. If it is released as a gas (say from a tank car splitting open in a rail car crash or an improperly-secured cannister tipping and cracking open) it can react with moisture in the air to form a deadly cloud of hydrochloric acid that can travel with the wind killing people and animals in its path.

I doubt you can buy chlorine gas.
It is highly toxic, an oxidizer, and an irritant.
Are you talking about bleach?
Sodium hypochlorite?

For the safety hazards of any common chemical,
check the MSDS, (Material Safety Data Sheet),
from a chemical supply house.
