White phosphorus, P4, is prepared by fusing calcium phosphate, Ca3(PO4)2, with carbon, C, and sand, SiO2, in an electric furnace.

2Ca3(PO4)2(s) + 6SiO2(s) + 10C(s) ==> P4(g) + 6CaSiO3(l) + 10CO(g)

How many grams of calcium phosphate are required to give 36.5 g of phosphorus?

The operations manager at a light bulb factory wants to determine whether there is a difference in the average life expectancy of bulbs manufactured on two different types of machines. The process standard deviation of Machine I is 110 hours and of Machine II is 125 hours. A random sample of 25 lights bulbs obtained from Machine I indicates a sample mean of 375 hours &a similar sample of 25 from Machine II indicates a sample mean of 362 hours. Using the 0.05 level of significance, which of the following statements offers the most accurate and appropriate measure that there is not enough evidence to conclude that there is a difference in the average life of bulbs produced by the two types of machines?
A. Z = 0.3904 and is between the critical bounds of plus or minus 1.96
B. t = 0.0117 and is between the critical bounds of plus or minus 2.01
C. t = 1.3829 and is between the critical bounds of plus or minus 2.01
D. Z = 0.424 and is between the critical bounds of plus or minus 1.96

I heard that fluoride is really bad, especially for children. The reason for fluoride is to make stronger teeth. And that the dental professionals don't have a say against it.

What do you think? Also, if fluoride is needed to maintain strong teeth then what is there that's causing weak teeth? I grew up in a country where we drank water from streams and rivers and my teeth are strong. There are some in-perfections because brushing was near none.

A pile starts with n sticks, with n>=2. The pile is split into two piles, and the product of the sizes of the piles is calculated. One of these new piles is then split into two piles, with the product of the sizes of these two new piles calculated and added to (the sum of) the previous product(s). This process continues until we have n piles with 1 stick in each.
For example, starting with 5 sticks, we could split 2, 3 (giving 6), then 2, 2, 1 (giving 6 + 2), then 1, 1, 2, 1 (giving 6 + 2 + 1), then 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 (giving 6 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 10).
Prove using strong induction that, no matter how the pile is split, the total at the end is always 1/2(n^2 -n).

Ok I've got less than 1 hour to answer this question, I've got 6.42x10^-3 mol of Cu^+2, it takes 1.61 mL of 16.0 M HNO3 to completely dissolve this.

If I add 5 mL 16.0 M HNO3 to the already dissolved Cu in HNO3, how much 4.00 M NaOH will be required to neutralize the acid AND turn all the Cu+2 into Cu(OH)2???
Answers I know are incorrect:
2.32x10^-2 L
1.32x10^-2 L
2.96x10^-2 L

Help within the next hour would be SOOO amazing, I would be so grateful!

I'm not a scientist but I'm just curious.

Since nothing is really certain in science, a lab test that proofed to be beneficial can only be made truth if time and time again it keeps turning out the same result. These tests has to be repeated as we progress in our scientific knowledge. Any scientific claim that refuses to be retested cannot be trusted.

Is this the way science should be? If so and if something is found to breach this method, what does it do to science. If the science community allows such practices to continue, what is there to hope for? This seems to be a problem in the scientific industries because of profit over science.

What are your thoughts?
