The method of preparation for an aqueous solution calls for 5.0 grams of anhyrdrous sodium sulfate, Na2SO4. The sodium sulfate available is crystalline hydrated sodium sulfate, NaSO4 * 10 H2O. How many grams of this hydrated compound should be used in place of the anhydrous compound when preparing the reagent? FW of Na2SO4 is 119.05 g/FW, MW of water is 18.02 g/mol. Hint: the number of moles of crystalline hydrated sodium sulfate must equal the number of moles of anhydrous sodium sulfate

Physics Problem Trouble?
A seagull, ascending straight upward at 4.40 m/s, drops a shell when it is 15.5 m above the ground.

The magnitude and direction of the shell's acceleration just after it is released is 9.8 m/s^2 downward.

The maximum height above the ground reached by the shell is 16. 487755 m.

A. How long does it take for the shell to reach the ground?

B. What is the speed of the shell at this time?

HELP I am totally at a loss! I got that the max height is 16.487755, but I can't figure out the next two parts.

In the movie Matrix, when a flying bullet is shown in slow motion, it emits some kind of rings behind it. Does a it really do that in real life, if the bullet is seen in slow motion, or is that just an “imaginary” effect for movies only? (And if it is real, then what makes it do that?)

Also this is a random question, but do you have any idea why this special effect (for the movie) is named as “bullet time?” I was just curious if anyone knew.

A basketball player, standing near the basket to grab a rebound, jumps 76.0 cm vertically. How much total time does the player spend (a) in the top 15.0 cm of this jump and (b) in the bottom 15.0 cm? Does this help explain why such players seem to hang in the air at the tops of their jumps? Show and explain your work. Thanks and good luck! :)

OK, so here's the question: The expression 2(l+w) can be used to find the perimeter of a rectangle with a length l and width w. What are the length and width of a rectangle if the area is 13.5 square units and the length of one side is 1/5 the measure of the perimeter? Explain your reasoning.
I figured out the answer. I figured out that if two sides must be 1/5 of perimeter each and two sides must be 1.5/5 of perimeter. So I figured out that the sides must be 3,3,4.5,4.5 units each to equal a perimeter of 15. However, I just figured this out by plugging in numbers until all factors were met. I know there must be a formula to figure out this answer and I need to show my daughter that. Please help this 30+ year old who has forgotten her math knowledge! I need help with the "explain your reasoning" part. Thanks!

They could make it out of anything and it could be at least as beautiful as the metallic shine. When cars bump and scrape each other, instead of replacing a panel, there would just be a bruise or wound that could be repaired for much less. The current design is so inefficient, and people hit by cars would have a better chance of less injury.
