get rid of parenthesis
9|x|+3-5|x|-3=12
the 3's cancel out giving you
9|x|-5|x|=12
and therefore
4|x|=12.
Solve for the absolute value of x and you get +3 or -3.

(9lxl + 3) - 5 lxl -3= 12

9lxl - 5|x| +3 - 3 = 12

(9-5)lxl + 0 = 12

4|x| = 12

divide both sides by 4

|x| = 12/4

|x| = 3

absolute value of any number comes out positive

|3| = 3 and |-3| = 3 right ? sure

==> x = 3 or x = -3

I am not really sure, maybe it is like this,

(9lxl+3) - 5lxl - 3 = 12 (move -5lxl-3 to the right)
9lxl+3= 5lxl + 15 (move 3 to the right and 5lxl to the left)
4lxl = 12 (move 4 to the right)
x= 12/4
and x=3

hope this will help

Combine like terms:

4IxI = 12

Divide by 4: IxI = 3

x = 3 or x = -3
