They could make it out of anything and it could be at least as beautiful as the metallic shine. When cars bump and scrape each other, instead of replacing a panel, there would just be a bruise or wound that could be repaired for much less. The current design is so inefficient, and people hit by cars would have a better chance of less injury.

For one thing, they make much less money on replacement panels. And for another, the technology may be too expensive. As one answerer noted, Saturn did have such panels, but I believe they may make it easier for people to get by with hit and run incidents b/c they dent less and would be easier to clean blood off of. Great question though!

Some vehicles used to come with plastic side panels instead of metal. It repels dints better than metal, but it shatters if there is a strong impact, I believe.

nice one, but they would probly be expensive and would rattle against your car so when you take it off you car is scrached
