Okay, I'm reading about the atomic theory and how it explains the formation of different compunds by the same two elements, right? Well, it explains that "only whole atoms combine in chemical compunds between the same elements. Therefore, different compunds formed by the same two elements must result from combinations of different relative numbers of atoms."

Can you explain this in English for me?

I decided for chuckles to calculate the telescope aperture required to resolve an elephant at a distance of 5 light years and came up with a 9 million km mirror. I may have slipped up. Let resolution be defined as Dawes' at .116/m of aperture, and y'all can handle the trig and the size of the elephant any way you want within reason.

This is a tricky calculation with lots of zeroes so I thought I would throw it out for someone to double check.

I'll be there's more than one person out there who can crunch this so "best answer" may be reserved for the answer that includes a reasonable calculation of the thickness and cooling time of the pyrex. You can choose another substrate if you like. Don't forget to show your work! (within reason)

thanks.

Hello,

I have noticed that at certain times of day and at certain points in the sky the sun will appear to be bigger or smaller. For the most part, in the morning at or near sunrise and in the evening near sunset, the sun will generally look bigger than it is when it is directly overhead or close to it. Why is this?

Thanks,
Ryan

My electric bill has usually been about 90 dollars, until this month it jumped to 263 dollars. Before it jumped there was a problem with the transformer on the pole and the power company had to come work on it, Is there something that could have happened to cause the Air conditioner to use more power then normal? If I turn it on I cant watch the wheel go around on the power meter it while it is on it makes a revolution about every second, but when its off its about 2-3 secs per revolution. What would cause my sudden jump in power usage?
