I need to find a topic for a written report, and it needs to be about a new discovery, or a new thing made thanks to biology or any of its sub-categories, like biotechnology, etc. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

As we neared the end of the flight we flew over what I believe was one of the great lakes. Does anyone happen to know what lake that might have been? I'm thinking Lake Erie? Also saw a snaking type river that seemed to flow from the lake could that have been the Erie canel? It would be wonderful if the Airlines would announce as they are flying over landmarks of interest. I know they are busy flying the plane but a little commentary would be nice. The east coast is just beautiful from the air.

A spherical balloon with radius r inches has volume defined by the function below. Find a function that represents the amount of air required to inflate the balloon from a radius of r inches to a radius of r + 2 inches.

I took V(r)=4/3pi(r+2)^3 and subtracted it from the orignal formula V(r)=4/3pir^3 now do the 4/3pi cnacel each other out? leaving me with 6r^2+12r+8? or do you just subtract the (r+2)^3 from r^3 leaving you with 8pir^2+16pir+(32/3pi)?

Suppose you are given the formula (y+3)/4 = ± (x+2)/9 for the asymptotes of a hyperbola. What is the formula for the hyperbola?

A You can’t tell because when you square both sides you might introduce extraneous roots.
B (y+3)^2/16 – (x+2)^2/81 = 1
C (y+3)^2/4 – (x+2)^2/9 = 1
D (x+2)^2/81 – (y+3)^2/16 = 1
E (x+2)^2/9 – (y+3)^2/4 = 1
F You can’t tell because you don’t know whether it opens to the sides or up-and-down.

Equation #1 =
-u^2 = 6 + 7u

Equation #2=
-((2x+1)/x) = 6+7( sqrt ((2x+1)/x))

Solve for x.
(notice that equation 2 is equation 1 when sqrt ((2x+1)/x) is substituted for u)
(i got that "u"= -6,-7 and then i set it equal to sqrt ((2x+1)/x) but it doesn't work out... please help!)

Now Imagine theres a point 'A' vertically above the surface of earth. the distance of point A from the horizontal plane is given by X metres .also, imagine theres no atmosphere.

Now Imagine from within that point A , a chain {made of identical oval shaped rings linked sequentially} keeps on appearing {materializing}

and it starts to fall down due to gravity and hits the ground.the liks which appear from within point A are static and are pulled down by the links below them i.e., the faster you pull the faster the new links materialize. now what will be the velocity of the chain { particularly the rings} when they hit the ground if X = 20 metres .(remember the chain keeps on materializing from the point A}.

i think the terminalvelocity of the chain can be given by Vt = squarerootof (Xg)

where g = acceleration due to gravity(take g= 10 m/s^2).
now sqrroot of(20*10) = 14.14.so , here Vt = 14.14.
