When I drop a tennis ball with a spin (vertical axis of rotation), I've noticed it rotates much slower after the bounce.

Is this just due to energy loss upon contact with the floor?

And is the fraction of linear kinetic energy just before to just after the bounce equal to the fraction of rotational kinetic energy just before to just after the bounce?

This came up on a programme the other night, and has been determined because the planet's magnetic fields are shifting and weakening. Scientists involved in the research believe that this is what happened to Mars and is the reason that there is very little atmosphere and no water there. They think the core could "freeze" in as little as 100 years or maybe many thousands of years from now. Sorry - I don't know what the prog was; I switched in about a quarter of the way through. It was on UKTV Docs.

There are a couple of theories as to why the core is slowing, one being that the uranium and plutonium which is known to sink to the centre of a forming planet may be depleting, thus removing the "nuclear reactor" that the theory postulates would be providing enormous heat at the very centre of the core itself and keeping it molten and mobile.

Q: How does the removal of planetary magnetic fields determine that atmosphere and water would evaporate? The prog didn't go into this.

Humans lie to each other and is it possible that animals do too? I wonder if humans can tell when a dog is barking at another dog and is telling it a lie. The same applies to all animals.

I am curious and answers that are goofy and scientific would be appreciated.

But it doesn't hurt to ask just to be sure.

They are relatively same latitude. For that matter, so are Italy and Washington. I am researching and I believe this has something to do with proximity to water bodies, but I'm not completely sure. Any clues would help. thanks!

I dont mean to sound ignorant, but what has putting people in orbit accomplished? If someone could provide a link with some of the accomplishments of putting people in space that would be appreciated. i figured if it was having break throughs and such that it would be plastered all over the news. I understand the need for space exploration, but as far as just putting people in orbit i am not aware of anything it has accomplished that is worth what is spent on it, but to be totally honest i am completely ignorant to anything its accomplished or not accomplished.
