What's the relationship between the image distance from the lens and the nature of the image produced of a converging lens? Is there any easy way to remember it?

If image distance is on the same side as the real object then the image is virtual and erect if on the other side it is real and inverted. Secondly larger the magnitude of image distance as compared to object disance bigger is the image.
