In "The Singularity is Near" by Ray Kurzweil, the guy scared me by saying that computers will one day be able to learn, make mistakes, and adapt to their environment - but how can they if they have no reason to adapt? Natural selection requires some motivation - - or just good programming? He also says computers can be creative, which has been, to me, always a sense of a human's freewill... is any of this possible?? I'm scared but reaaaaaaaally fascinated....

I have started this problem and am stuck ... this is what I have so far ...

Zeros: -3, 0, 4; degree 3

f(x)=(x+3)(x-0)(x-4)
=(x^2+3)(x-4)
=x^3-12+3x-4x^2

the answer is supposed to be:
f(x)=x^3 - x^2 - 12x for a = 1

Or in full, which 4 people (incl the expert), living, deceased or fictional, would make a great 'Scrapheap Challenge' team?

My team would be:
R.J. Mitchell (designer of the Supermarine Spitfire)
Gordon Ramsay (for presentation and motivational purposes)
Darth Vader (who needs welding torches or an engine that works when you have the force!)
EXPERT: George "Hannibal" Peppard (Who else could turn a lawnmower and an old fridge into an armored tank?)

I am an engineer, and have been fairly successful in my career.. However, I'm not really that excited about engineering and haven't been for some time. Does anyone know what else I could do with my Bachelor's in Computer Engineering besides engineering? It's hard to let go because it pays so much better than anything else I could do, but it's also slowly destroying my soul. Thanks.
