The point-slope form is (y-y1) = m(x-x1)
Your have the slope from the equation, -1
Just plug in either of the two points' coordinates for (x1, y1), and you'll have a point-slope equation:
(y-3) = -1(x-7)
or
(y-7) = -1(x-3)

Your equation y(x) = -x + 10 means that your slope is -1 and your y-intercept is 10; but let us see if the two points can be recapitulated by the eqn:
y(x=7) = -7 + 10 = 3, so the first point is OK
y(x=3) = -3 + 10 = 7, so the second point is OK
It looks like the eqn is OK.
Rise over run means the change in the height over the concomitant change in the linear or x-direction.
Rise over run is given by the slope; -1 means that the line is at negative 45 degrees or the rise is +-1 while the run is -+1
I hope that this helps rather than confuses you.

reading left to right, y goes up 4, x goes down 4, so slope is -1. That much is right.

In point slope form,

y - y0 = m(x - x0),

so you want -1 for m and the coordinates of one of the points for (x0, y0), say the 1st one:

y - 3 = -(x - 7)

your equation is slope-intercept form. correct equation of line but not the required form.

well lets check it in one you have 7 as x and 3 as y

3=-7+10
3=-3
wrong

next has 3 as x 7 as y

7=-3+10
7=7
right
hmm lets start from the begining

the standard equation for a line is

y=mx+b

insert ur y and x values

3=7m+b
7=3m +b

use systems of equations

(3=7m+b)-1
7=3m+b
-3=-7m-b

4=-4m
divid by -4
m=-1

so insert m in y=mx+b with x and y

3=7(-1)+b
3=-7+b
+7
10=b

so its y=-x+10

hmmm idk i tried graphing it the equation is right for the points though but the check isnt

m is slope
b it y intercept or where the line crosses the y axis

It is NOT wrong!

You may use the TWO point form, which is:

(y-y1)/(x-x1) = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

(y-3)/(x-7) = (3-7)/(7-3)
(y-3)/(x-7) = -4/4 = -1, or

(y-3)/(x-7) = -1. Cross multiply, so

y-3 = -1(x-7) or
y-3 = -x + 7, bring 3 over,

y = -x + 10.
