Not long ago we stayed away from ghosts and haunted places. Now they run through graveyards and houses.Holding microphones, cameras and videos.Snapping pictures taking readings, seems like a nuisance. Are they treating ghosts like "Britney Spectres"?

Just for curiosity, how good an approximation can you find for π using an nth-root of an integer (a^1/n), or ( a^m/n).
State your accuracy (no. of decimal places).

It's surprising that you can find small numbers that do a pretty good job:

10^1/2 = 3.16 (1dp accurate)
31^1/3 = 3.1414 (3dps)
97^1/4 = 3.14 (2dps)
306^1/5 = 3.1416 (4 dps)
3020^1/7 = 3.141549 (3 dps)
29809^1/9 = 3.141591 (5 dps)
...

To find such approximations, simply raise π^n for some n, round up/down to nearest integer, then take the nth root.

(This doesn't really have much application, unless you can suggest one where π appears exponentiated, or you really need an approximation to (say) compute the volume of a hyphersphere :) )

Please explain why DC is supposed to have lower losses than AC for power transmission over very long distances?
(What is the threshold distance? as a function of voltage? and what are the losses? Which countries do this?)

(I'm an MSEE, so you can assume knowledge of two-ports and transmission lines if you want, or some links.
But please include a paraphrase explanation with typical numbers, which everyone can understand)

From what i understand you can't change the hz an appliance gives off and I know if you plug a 60hz appliance into a 50hz socket that it could potentially cause a burnout on the appliance, but what happens if it's the other way around? Providing you have the right adaptor, and the right transformer for the right voltage.

Am i right to assume it would be the opposite and instead of possibly causing a burnout the product will be less efficient?

Is it true that we have all of our ancestors genes (from the first bacteria)? I've also heard that human embrio grow tails then reabsorb it later, and that there are few whales that were found posessing hind legs (possibly from abnormal reactivation of their ancestor's genes).

PQR is a triangle right angled at P and M is a point on QR such that PM┴QR. Show that PM² = QM * MR

I got the answer, but it took soooo many steps! No using similarity. We must only use the Pythagoras theorem. My teacher says we can do it in less than 6 steps! I used a whopping 13 steps to get it! Help. Is there a shorter way?
