Follow the advice about requesting an energy audit from your utility. Unplug all device chargers when not actually charging their batteries (put all chargers on a power strip so you can turn off the power strip).
Personally, I built a home through a utility new construction program that exceeded code requirements, same for the water heater. Thermostat is set at the minimum comfort level (which is higher for my wife than me, but that's a different story). Flow restrictors in all showers and faucets. Flush valves in toilets replaced with lower warter use models (I'm outside the city and have an electric well pump, so minimizing water use helps too).
Most of the interior lights are now CFL, the porch light is a CFL, my outside garage light is a high pressure sodium fixture (HPS is used by utilities for their high efficiency street lights).
The 4' kitchen fluorescent fixtures are retrofitted with T8 lamps and electronic ballast, as are the interior garage lights.
Appliances are either Energy Star, or will be when they need to be replaced. No big screen TV's.
Buy the most efficient stuff you can and turn it off when you're not using it.

I switched from using an electric dryer and stove to gas appliances. My electric power comes from a local gas burning power plant. I believe that it is more efficient to directly heat something by burning a fuel(gas) rather than via electric.
Some lights in my home have been changed to the new flourscent bulbs where practical.
And of course switching off lights as I leave a room.

I use motions or timersfor lights in areas where people tend to leave them on. Also switch regular bulbs for Supra Life compact fluorescent lamps last up to 10 times longer than standard light bulbs while using 75% less energy. Also remember to change your filter monthly on your AC/ heating unit. It will work less saving more energy (I also keep the AC on 82 in the summer and the heat on 72 in the winter. ALso front load washers save a tremendous amount of energy

Call your electricity provider and ask if they will do an "energy audit" (p g & e doest this)
A rep will come to your house and look at how you're using electricity and make suggestions on how to save.

u can't save electricity in any physical form , b'coz its just a form of energy. so by ' saving electricity ' , it just means ' consuming less electricity '.
