I agree with brainstorm. One of the biggest differences I've found between the two is wind, Thunderstorms are typically accompanied by strong winds in addition to the thunder and lightning. Can also develop hail. Thundershowers are mostly rain and lightning with lighter winds and no hail.I stared your question and I think I deserve a good rating and a best answer.

Lightning and the sound which follows the lightning together is called thunderstorm. If precipitation in the form of big drops occurs from the thunderstorm it is called thunder showers. If rain occurs with the thunderstorm it is usually referred to as "Thunderstorm with rain".On the otherhand if shower follows the thunderstorm it is called thundrer showers.Showers are solid or liquid(usually big rain drops) precipitation from convective type of clouds (distinguished from layer clouds) falling on the ground mostly with short duration and rapid fluctuations of intensity. For example ,hail can be called as shower whereas a drizzle cannot be classified as shower.
