Explain each of the following in terms of nuclear models:

1. The mass of an atom of 4He is less than the sum of the masses of 2 protons, 2 neutrons, and 2 electrons

2. Alpha radiation penetrates a much shorter distance into a piece of material than does beta radiation of the same energy

3. Products from a nuclear fission of a uranium atom such as 90Sr and 137Ce are highly radioactive and decay by emission of beta particles.

4. Nuclear fusion requires large amounts of energy to get started, whereas nuclear fission can occur spontaneously, although both processes release energy

I am doing a project for school and I need you to answer my question. This is really stupid, so therefore I can't find the answer on the internet. Do you know how many gallons of water would fit in the grand canyon. also, why couldn't they have used something besides a dam?

why hasnt this solar light pressure affected the orbit of the planets in some way? It seems to me that over the course of billions of years it would actually have driven the planets away from the sun

Besides the earth.
All the talk about terra-forming Mars, though not completely meritless, seems to focus on getting oxygen onto Mars.

Mars has oxygen it's just bound to carbon. Plants could fix that.

Martian air needs to be like 80% nitrogen to be breathable and non volitile.

We are looking for an inexpensive way to generate our own electricity on a site which at present has none. Can we build our own wind turbine? If so, how?? How expensive would solar panels be to power a 2-bed, single storey house. We have all the usual "gumf", computers, tv, stereo and washing machine (aaa rated, of course". Only two adults in house so usage not too great.

We, unfortunately, have no stream for water power.

My sister lives in Sanford, FL, and I haven't been able to reach her since I've heard about the tornadoes in Lady Lake, killing 14 people. I know she's close, but does anyone know how far apart they are (as the crow flies, not road distances necessarily)? Anyone here in Sanford and know if the weather has been severe there, too?? Help, I'm worried about her!!
