*Keep in mind --- your goal is solving for the "x" variable.

*You can also rewrite the equation as: 8x + 7 = 126

First: combine "like" terms --- subtract "7" from both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign)...

8x + 7 - 7 = 126 - 7

8x = 119

Sec: isolate "x" on one side --- divide both terms by "8"...

8x/8 = 119/8

x = 119/8

P.S. The solution doesn't have to be written in decimal form, unless your teacher asks you to do so.

Easy . The unknown is x

So you put the terms on x in one side as here

126=8x+7

substract 7 on both sides

126-7 = 8x +7-7

119= 8x

x= 119/8 = 14.875

get all the numbers on one side and all the letters on the other side:
8x+7=126
(subtract 7 from both sides)
8x = 119
(divide both sides by 8)
x = 14.875

subract both side by '-7'

126-7=8x+7-7
119=8x
divide by 8 on both sides
119/8-8x/8
119/8=x
