i think its equal because you multiply 8 and 9 to put the complete 8 into the fraction then add to the other 8 and 8*9=72+8= 80 so in the end its 80/9=80/9

8 8/9 is a mixed fraction.So.to make it into an impossible fraction ,multiply 9 and 8 and add 8 to them which is 80/9
hence 8 8/9 is equal to 80/9

Is this your homework???
8 8/9 = ((8 * 9) + 8)/9 = 80/9
So the two sides are equal.

Equal. 80/9 = 8 remainder 8, or 8 8/9
I'm sure there's going to be some convoluted reason why this is wrong, but I'm not buying it.
