You and a friend are sitting in the bleachers of a major league baseball park, 140 m from home plate on a day when the temperature is 20°C. Your friend is listening to the radio commentary with headphones while watching. The broadcast network has a microphone located 17 m from home plate to pick up the sound as the bat hits the ball. This sound is transferred as an EM wave a distance of 66,000 km by satellite from the ball park to the radio.

What is the shortest time interval between the bat hitting the ball and one of you hearing the sound?

How much later does the other person hear the sound?

There is a question going around on answers in the pet catagory about a cat having a litter of cat/dogs. Is it not impossible for the two to breed, they are different species, they can't can they? There are some people out there that are telling that poore girl it is possible, someone with a degree please verify this for me. I'm pretty sure I know better, but I would like some back up on this. Thanks!

Suppose that the cost of operating a truck in Mexico is 54 +0.29 v cents per mile when the truck runs at a steady speed of v miles per hour. The top speed of the truck is 100 mph. Assume that the driver is paid 9 dollars per hour to drive the truck, and he is to begin a 2900 mile trip.

Write the cost of operating the truck in dollars, as a function of the speed v, for the planned trip .

Write the cost of driver's wages in dollars, as a function of the speed v, for the planned trip .

The total cost of the planned trip, as a function of the speed v, is the sum of the first two costs. Find the most economic speed for the planned trip, i.e., the speed that minimize the total cost is v=

I understand that everything is a cycle, and everything comes from earth and goes back to earth, but do you believe the overall volume of earth is getting larger?

Consider a Ping-Pong ball and a golf ball. Both are of approximately the same volume. However, the golf ball has the greater mass and therefore the greater density.
