Use the digit "4" four times along with the following operations: subtraction (-), addition (+), multiplication (*), and division (/) to result in the answer 10. You may use parenthesis to control the order of operations.

For example, if you were solving for 3, you could use ( 4 + 4 + 4 ) / 4 because 12 divided by 4 is 3.

Or, if you feel there is no solution, provide a proof.

No, this isn't my homework. This is my friend's kid's homework and having accomplished a Math minor I feel I should have been able to solve his junior high homework!

We all know DNA and RNA are self replicating molecules that encode genetic information in the sequence of bases. Hence their status as the "basic molecules of life".

So, what other (synthetic) self-replicating molecules exist that would be capable of encoding a specific sequence of momomeric units? Have any ever been synthesised?

Could any be the basis of life on planets with a different chemistry, or are aliens all going to be (boringly) based on nucleic acids?

I'm an AS level student, and lately I've come under a lot of pressure from my parents over the choice of my subjects as I despise physics, but my parents are convinced I won't make it thru without this subject into Medical college if I wanted to. are they right?Physics has been tormenting me for the past 2 years of O Levels and I don't want to feel like the dumbest person in class while I do vector calculations. And are there any other(or better) career options I can have other than becoming a doctor by having AS/A2 level Biology, Math and Chemistry. Also it would help me if someone gave me advice on university requirements as well.

I have had experienced contact with aliens. Who could I contact? Besides area 51, are there any other known agencies like SETI? Out of curiosity, do you believe right now living aliens of any form could be living among us, dealing with governments and people, studying and communicating with us right now? If so, how long do you think they have been here? Do you think they came after the first radio signal left Earth?

This is not a question ..

Thought this might be interesting to post for the Pluto debaters ..

another important factor to consider is before it was discovered by clyde Tombaugh and labeled a
planet .. it used to be a moon of neptune, broke away from it's gravity & then got caught in the sun's
gravity & orbited around that . It used to be that a planet was clasified as orbiting any star . Now it's the make up and size of a planet .
