My fiancee are having a disagreement...he says that midwives are not doctors, they can not prescribe medications....I say yes they are as i went to a midwife when my daughter was born(she is now 8) and she prescribed me medications/narcotics...during and after pregnancy...the only thing they can not do is a c-section but they have a doctor on call when absoultely necassary by midwifes standards. i went thro all natural 27 hours of vaginal birth. the difference between doctors and midwife doctors is midwives stay with you throughout the birth and have time to REALLY talk to you. I went through a regular doctor with my son and it was a much better experince...I had EPIDURAL but my question is are midwives doctors?

I am 11 weeks pregnant and have begun to "pop out"...the problem is that I notice myself unconsciously sucking in my belly. Maybe I do this to suck in my gut all the time anyway. Who knows? My abs are sore like I've been doing sit-ups. Is this normal?

THERE WAS THIS COMMENT
~ Pregnant women try not to eat foods with strong smells (like garlic, onions, etc), to avoid nausea. Apart from this comment, I also read that they stimulate the uterus! Do you think this harms the fetus?
Do you think I should not eat them? Did you used to eat them when pregnant ?

I'm 4 months pregnant and I suppose I 'm starting to show a little. The thing is, when I walk, I feel a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen...as if everything in there is too low. Not painful but uncomfortable. Sorry. That's the best way I can decribe it. Anyone had this feeling while pregnant?

I had one slight period last month and this month I am not late yet but I feel nauseated and tired all of the time. I have a sneaking suspicion I'm pregnant! Problem is, I haven't had sex w/ anybody that could get me pregnant! To add insult to injury, if I am pregnant it's my ex-boyfriends and since we have been broken up for a month, I wouldn't doubt it if he will make the claims the baby's not his!

Short of using the "when did you have your last period" thingee- how can you tell exactly how far you are along?

Can I just ask - why are there always questions on here saying that people are buying umbilical cords to insert into their uterus until a new one grows to feed the baby (I won't even go into reasons why this is utterly rediculous)?? This is absolute nonsense and really pisses me off that anyone could be so stupid. The only thing I can think of is it's some sort of 'urban myth' doing the rounds at school and people are curious. I can't believe how many times I have read it!! Does anyone know where it's originated from?

Im not showing much at all yet and ive only gained like 2 pounds...Im not sure if this is how its suppost to be. I keep worrying about losing the baby and i dont know why, Do you think this is a possibility or am i just worried too much? Ive had two healthy boys. And i seen the heartbeat at about 10 weeks. Long story short . . . over the weekend, my pregnant sister in law convinced me to give her a "fetal massage," which essentially involves alternatively messaging the plump belly and the buttocks. I felt a little strange doing this, but it really was not anything sexual. I also did not yet tel my wife, but I am going to, because, again, I don;t think this was wrong. Any thoughts?

I'm writing a research paper on "prenatal care" but more on expiermental care. Like putting music to the stomach or doing certain massages during pregnancy. But I'm having a real time finding sources. I've searched online for "prenatal care" but just found basics and then "expiermental prenatal care" but still nothing. I was wondering if anyone knew any sites or if I should search using a different name.
