i am 38 wks, my braxton hicks feel like period pain, i was concerned about that but was told its normal, my back also aches too aswell as my thighs and my tummy hardens. if its a pain down one side bubs might be laying on a nerve, just stroke your tummy and that may move bubs into a different position, some woman dont actually feel their braxton hicks, others do and can be painful, also you may not get regular contractions at all. my sister had pains, rang the hospital, they told her they wernt regular, and not to come in, but mothers intuition kicked in and she decided to go, 17 mins later she gave birth! so trust yourself and good luck !!!!!

Hi there. It sounds like real contractions. Contractions aren't all that painful in early labour they get stronger very gradually. You say it hurts more when you stand up, I experienced exactly the same thing. By standing, it makes it easier for the baby to move down. Go and have a nice soak in the bath, it'll ease the pain and also relax you. Labour can take a long time, especially if it's your first so just put your feet up until it's show time xx

You should go in for an exam, just to be sure. My contractions were never regular, even when it was time. Somtimes if the baby is on a nerve, the pain won't be as bad. My mom felt only two contractions before I was born. Back labor is very common.

Congratulations! Good Luck!

I'm sure you as a grown up and being at 38 wks know exaclty hoe BH feels like...if you are feeling irregular contractions but they don't feel like BH - and feeling lower back pain- you are just starting labor....those contractions will get regular , coming every 30 mins, 20 mins...and that time will be reducing...also you will feel them a little more painful as time goes by....just keep active and maybe give your GP a call to let him/her know what's going on....they can give you better guidance since they have treated you since the beggining of your pg. Good luck honey...that baby is coming soon.

I had hardening in my stomach when I used my muscles or layed in certain positions, especially at night. I never went into labor (becasue my daughter wanted to stay in my belly). When I was induced I felt the contractions and trust me, I could tell the difference. Labor contractions are constant whether standing, sitting or walking. That's how you know that you are going into labor. Certain physical motions can create sensation that may feel how contractions are somtetiemes described, but they go away when you change positions or sit down.

It's ordinary for the uterus to agreement sometimes. If you think the contractions four or five occasions in a single hour, you can be in exertions. These contrations is also what is referred to as Braxton Hicks. These contraction don't seem to be steady. They are sporatic and that is a technique you'll be able to inform if what you're experiencing are actual contractions.

these sound as though they may actually be REAL contractions not BH! I would time them for a while and if they are 5 minutes or closer together I would call your doc and get checked! GOOD LUCK!!

Congratulations! Now you have to see a doctor. pregnancy is different for EVERYONE.... believe me, I'm going on 15 weeks pregnant and my pregnancy is completely different than what others tell me. You must see a doctor because you are considered to be 'at risk' b/c of your age.
