I always did and it never hurt me, i wouldn't do the same with hamburger though but a steak is different. It's not as if you no longer have an immune system when you are pregnant like everyone seems to think.

It would be better to at least have it cooked at least to medium. Just to be sure any bacteria on the outside has gotten ample heat to kill it.

Never eat hamburger, sausage or other ground meat that isn't fully cooked though. All that bacteria is mixed in the meat and could be harmful to both you and the baby.

According to my doctor, you can continue to eat steak med rare, but avoid rare. I have eaten my steak med rare through two pregnancies now and haven't had any problems.

Steak you can still eat like that. The bacteria on steak is on the outside so grilling, or broiling kills it. It is ground meat that you cannot eat rare, because since it is ground up the bacteria gets inside of it.

its fine to eat. Just don't eat anything raw- oysters, sushi, beef tartar. A medium or rare steak is fine

If it isn't well done, it has the asterisk by it that says 'may be harmful'. Still, if you are used to rare I think you could risk medium or med-rare. Its up to you whether you want to be super cautious or not.

It should be well done. Here are some guidelines.

If you go out to eat, check with the waitstaff to determine how they determine doneness.
