Pregnant women can develop a type of pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome. It is common. Wearing wrist braces will help the pain. They take a bit to get used to wearing them, but she will. The next time she has a doctor's appointment, she should just mention that to her doctor. I had this same thing, but it's been 9 years and there might be some other suggestions besides the braces.

Alternate hot for 15 min with cold for 10 min (either hot and cold packs or even just water in large bowls.. 3-4 times in a row. Two or more times a day.
Tell her to be very careful when she is using her wrists, particularly like the computer keyboard.
She may be developing repetitive stress injuries / carpal tunnel syndrome. This may be temporary as a result of "relaxin" the hormone the relaxes all of her joints so her pelvis can spread. However, too much damage can become permanent.
If possible she should discuss this with a specialist. Maybe a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. She may do well in a wrist brace, but an experienced person would need to evaluate her, as a brace can do more harm than good in certain situations.
Best of luck!

Do you have any other kids? After I had my first son I got severe tendinitis, in both wrists and was treated for it. It came back when I got pregnant the second time. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot that can be done safely besides Tylenol, and maybe if you could help your wife with things that she says hurts her wrist.
If you do not have other kids that she's been lifting, look around, she may be lifting other things that are too heavy for her wrists to support and could be pulling on the tendons causing the same problem. Not just lifting though either, she may be stretching her hand in an awkward way that is pulling them.

This could be carpal tunnel syndrome which I occasionally suffer from (I am 19 weeks pregnant) and can occur in pregnancy due to fluid retention. It usually starts with a numb feeling developing in the hand and the pain in the wrist can be very painful. There isnt really anything you can do but I find raising my hand above my head helps as this allows the nerve to be freed from the fluid and travel back to the hand. I sometimes get it in my elbow too. If it is very bad the doctor can arrange physio therapy to help but only in extreme cases.

It might be something like carpal tunnel. Those little bones separate during pregnancy, and especially if she is lifting or doing repetitive movement, it can get aggravated. After my daughter was born, I had to sleep in wrist splints. They really helped. You can get them at the drugstore, for carpal tunnel. I hope she feels better. I remember mine hurt really bad, and tingled, and would be numb :(

I experienced really bad joint pain...especially in my wrists and ankles during my first and early second trimesters. Warm (not hot) baths worked a little. But otherwise I did nothing, it eventually subsided.

Make sure she's taking her prenatal vitamins. The baby could be depleting her of more calcium than she is taking in and make sure she tells her ob/gyn on her next visit.
For the pain she should take a couple of ibuprofen if ok'ed by her dr. and use warm compress or heating pad.
Congrats on the baby.
