Newborn & Baby - October 2006

I am deciding on whether or not to have my son start sleeping in his own room yet. He just turned 6mths old today. He has been sleeping in his crib in our room for about 2 mths now (before that he slept in a bassinette, then our bed because he initially hated the crib). He sleeps for 10-11 hrs a night, with occasional waking. I am also going to take off the bumper pads because I am worried about the safety hazards when he is alone in his room.

I am worried that he will be up all night or not sleep well in his own room. We just feel that it might be time to reclaim our room again. Plus his father works night shifts and has to sleep in there in the day and it is disturbing for him when I put the baby down for naps and he doesn't go to sleep right away! Of course, he already wears earplugs.

Will it be too traumatic for the little one or is it now or never?!

My name is Robert Dean Short, My dads name is Harold Dean Short. I think it would make my dad feel good if I carried the Dean middle name on. Do you know any boy names that sound good for a first name with DEan as a middle name? Also through some girl names out there to if you want ( Dean not required....lol!!).Thank You!!!

and he's acting like it's some newfound torture technique.
any tricks i can try? should i skip to fruits, just so he doesn't get so upset at the get go and think eating is a horrific experience? my firstborn had no problems eating....but the way this one screams, i'm afraid he's gonna choke, even though there is hardly any in there, and he spits that little bit back out. he takes it in his bottle just fine, so i know he is familiar with the taste---and i'm making sure it isn't thick at all for him......
i could no joke feed him 10 times with just one little spoonful of cereal. help please!!!

She would put him in as soon as he's sleeping, but then he would wake up and cry and cry until he's picked up. He would rather stay up all night if it meant sleeping in his crib. Any suggestions?

She has 4 bottle feedings every day, and at least one 2nd foods jar of veggies before noon and a bowl of cereal with a 2nd foods jar of fruit every night. Most of the time she will get another stage one size veggies in the afternoon, but sometimes we are not home for it and she does not get hungry.
How much should I try giving her every day? I'm never sure if I try to give her more if she will want it, and I am a first-time mom so I am not sure how much babies her age eat?
Is there anything I can make her myself, like pureed in the blender?
What will she be able to eat when she gets teeth? She already tries to pick up any food that lands on the high chair tray lol, even though it is too mushy!
Any personal experience or sample daily schedules will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Ok my son and I have been doing pretty good with nursing for four months now but suddenly he's been pulling off my nipple until the very tip and sometimes he'll suck and sometimes he'll bite but now my nipples are so sore that I don't even know when he's doing anything. From the moment he latches on until he stops it hurts. I still nurse but I want him to stop biting so it doesn't hurt... They told me to tell him when he bites me to say "no, mommy isn't a bite toy" and offer him a real bite toy but now I don't know when he's biting... This happen to anyone? I don't want to wean him, any suggestions?

She is almost 8 months now, but I am just curious if any other mothers experienced this:
For probably the first month, every time I woke up I would panic and start looking for her! I would move the sheets everywhere and try to find her. This only lasted for maybe less than a minute, but I really freaked out! She NEVER slept in bed with me, but for some reason I would do this when I woke up. Is it because you hold them so much when they are little and you are so sleep deprived that you don't know what's going on lol? Or is it separation anxiety or a combo of the both?
My mother said this never happened to her, but I'm curious if it happened to any of you?

My daughter is 5 months old and from her birth I have only breast fed her. Every once and awhile when she would be left with my mom for a few hours I would leave a bottle for her to drink, but she just flat out refused it.
It seems as though the only thing that she wants is my breast. I have tried pumping out my breast milk and putting it in a bottle but even that doesnt seem to work. DShe doesnt even like pacifiers. Im wondering if anyone has any ideas as too how to move her from breast too bottle.

Or would that be strange?

We have a bassinet right by our bed but I just like her sleeping right next to me better. Daddy doesn't like it but when I'm lying in bed and breastfeeding me and the baby both fall asleep and she seems to sleep better when she is next to me. What did you all do?

I have a 27mo old son and a 9 day old baby. How do you find time to take a shower? I can't leave my son unattended with the baby (I WONT because he loves him, but he doesnt realize how rough he is) and I dont like waiting til my hubby gets home because I like to feel clean when I go to the docotrs or wherever it is I need to go. When it was just myson and I , i would usually just let him stand in the back of the shower that way I knew where he was. I cant realy do that now. help!

My little boy is 8months old and i have always rocked him to sleep with no problem. He is 24lbs now and can over power me. He is very stong and can wiggle out of my arms. I have tried letting him cry, holding him tight when i rock him and just letting him lie there in the dark. He has never given me problems before in this area and i will not be able to rock him much longer. Can anyone give me some tips on putting him to bed with some ease. Besides drugging him. Kidding, i would never drug him!

I hate asking questions at this time of day..because some of the wierdos come out of the woodwork...but here goes...

I am feeding my baby pumped breastmilk because we failed to breastfeed properly. Anyway, there are many times where she does not finish the bottle. Do I need to discard it? If not, can it be put back into the refrigerator? If so...for how long?

Also...can it be left out of the fridge (aka at room temp)? How long?

Thanks in advance for your answers!
