I'll type what my baby book says (always handy): Normal body temp is between 96.8 and 99.5° F, depending on the time of day. Temp is lowest in middle of the night and highest in the afternoon. An oral temp above 100.4 may be a sign of illness.
It depends on how you take the temp if it is considered a fever or not. Over 99.4 if taken under the arm, as temp is slightly lower. 100.4 if taken orally with a digital therm. 101.3 if taken rectally. If your child has a fever of 101° that wont come down and is this young, take them in to the Dr. You cant be too careful at this age, really. You can hold off longer on the Dr call if your child is a bit older, say a fever over 103, but not until they are closer to a yr old I think.
My little girl has always been warm blooded. At the maternity ward they bundled her up with three layers of clothing and a hat thinking she'd be cold otherwise. After I saw her nose with sweat on it I asked the nurse to take her temp. Sure enough, she was too hot. Make sure you arent over-dressing your baby. I dont know how many people out on the street or even family members if we're inside the house have commented 'Isnt your baby going to be cold dressed like that??' and while it's annoying I just have to say no, she's fine. Depends on the child how much they need to be covered.

Okay heres the real deal on baby temps! i have 6 children so i consider myself am expert. Anything over 100.6 degrees is considered a temperature for an infant anywhere below 97.6.degrees then you need to bundle him up to get him warm.Anything between there is considered normal

I agree 99 anything higher, call your doc. If by chance your baby just got shots then expect baby to have fever but dont let it go over 102. Still call doc over temo of 100.
