We did not circumsize our son. We actually were going to circumsize him as we thought it was the common thing to do. My doctor informed us that it is actually not as uncommon to not circumsize as we first thought. In fact, a lot of doctors will not do circumsizions anymore, they are calling it cruelty. In fact, new studies have shown that by cutting off the foreskin, you may in fact be doing some desensitizing to the penis, therefore sexual intercourse for your child when they become adults, may be less enjoyable with a circumsized penis then with an uncircumsized penis as the head of a circumsized penis is always exposed and becomes less sensitive to touch etc then a penis that is uncircumsized which is usually covered by the foreskin thus causing more sensitivity during intercourse

I would let my son to make the decision on his own. It is his penis after all, not mine. What if he does not want to be circumcised? 85% of the world's male population is uncircumcised.
It is not true that it is better to have it done in infancy! First of all, the foreskin is attached to the gland in infants, so circumcision is basically skinning the penis alive (even if done with anesthetics), and it leaves an open wound. Additionally, grown up men, if they want to be circumcised, they have it done under a general anesthesia, or with a spinal blockage. Infants get only local anesthesia (and the shot is painful itself).
I would not like to cause any extra pain to a newborn baby, that's for sure. Just going through the tight birth canal, taking the first breath, being exposed to the bright light, etc. are shocking enough for a little boy.
By the way, intercourse does not feel different for a woman. It does make a difference for a man - circumcised men lose about 40% of their sensitivity. Of course, if they are circumcised in infancy, they don't even know what they are losing.

My husband and I thought about this one for months before our son was born and we decided against it. There are statistics that show that men who are circumsized have a lower risk of getting UTIs and HIV...but it is an extremely low, low number. Circumcision is absolutely medicially unnecessary and it's true that 85% of the world is uncircumsized. Why do most parents decide to circumsize their boys, if not for religious reasons? Because dads want their son's penises to look like their own. We decided to give our son the choice. If he wants to be circumsized when he's old enough to decide, then we'll support that decision.

Uncircumsized men don't feel any different in my opinion.

I've had both cut and uncut partners. Uncut was WAY better... the circumcised guy was much less sensitive in that area, which sucked in several ways.

Intercourse feels about the same, I guess.

I definitely won't circ any future sons. There's no reason to do it except "to look like everyone else" (not really a concern with falling circ rates) and 'cause you simply don't like the way a circ'd penis looks... and cosmetic reasons are not good enough for me to put my baby throught the risk of a surgery (and ANY surgery carries risks, even if they are low).

I'm a guy, and I got circumcised three months ago; I had a loose done. I prefer it; feels the same, just without the excess urine getting trapped in the foreskin, the odors, etc. I think I am leaning towrd circumcising my son, but making sure he has a local anesthesia.

I have only been with a circumcised man but I have seen uncircumcised ones. I prefer circumcised and had my two boys circumcised.

No, I didn't circumcise my son. He's "intact".

Yes, I've had cut and un-cut partners. I was not able to tell a difference during intercourse. However, I think I prefer un-cut, simply because there are more things to do during foreplay -- more areas to "explore".

Intercourse doesn't feel different. My first son was uncircumcised at my fathers request. When he was two i had to have one performed because he was having trouble urinating.I had the rest of my boys circumcised within 2 days of birth.I think it is easier. It does lower the risk of infection and some complications. It's best to discuss the pro's and con's with your pediatrician and make an informed decision.

I have not been with someone who was not circumcised. However I did have a close friend who wasnt. The circumsized penis is definately better looking in my oppinion. As far as out son becing circed I let my husband make that decision. I dont have a penis so I didnt think it was fair for me to choose. My husband chose to have it done.
