I plan on breastfeeding up to about 3 months and then alternating between formula and breast milk. I heard from an experienced mother that her dauhter slept longer with formula than breast milk is that true?

Hello fellow mothers and mothers-to-be. I just had a baby boy 3 weeks ago! He is adorable. He is loved and welcomed by my whole family. My 2 daughters just adore him. I have a problem, however. Whenever I breast feed him, it is VERY painful. It feels like a burning hot razor is cutting my mammary glands. The pain is felt deep inside as well as the tip. Ever time he nibbles and bites on my nipple, the excruciating pain gets more intense. Could it be an infection? The pain gets so bad sometimes that I have to put my baby aside and take some Tylenols. I've seen a doctor and he could not find anything wrong with my breasts. Please help me? Anyone else had this problem?

Props for all those moms who have the stamina to pick up their babies EVERY TIME THEY CRY. I have nothing against you at all, but I do have a question. If a baby gets used to being picked up every time they cry from birth-forever ever notice how the baby starts to want to be held non stop once they reach 6mo old? I know I've seen a lot of moms SO stressed, I wonder...Is it really "good" for the baby to be held constantly if it's stressing the mother so much? I don't think so I see that a lot of moms, no matter how much they adore their little angel, get very aggitated and can start (without realizing it) building up resentment. So is picking up your child every time they cry really a good thing? I know that babies NEED to cry (a little) for their lungs to develop (prevents SIDS) and as a way to releive stress and get excersize. I trained my babies (4yrs and 6mo) at 3 months and they are scary they are so secure and calm. I don't know if that's why but I'm glad they're so happy.

Ok I'm sorry but am I the only REAL person on here that realizes that being a good parent means using common sense?? I mean come on with all these people answering questions...ABSOLUTELY NO SOLID FOOD....NO WALKERS....Now come on people. I'm a daycare provider AND a mother of 2. Kids have accidents and sorry but there's no such thing as a DEFINITE answer. You have to use your best judgment and common sense with a bit of mothers (fathers) intuition thrown in. Not every situation is the same and no 2 people are the same. If someone's child pukes constantly and rice cereal keeps it down then PUUUULEASE tell me why that's bad? And if you live in a basement or one story house and use COMMON SENSE then WHY is a walker a bad thing? I mean come on I had my daughters winter coat recalled because it had ONE yes ONE sewed on button the "could" come loose...that sucker was sewn on better than most of MY buttons. Can all the ignorant stupid parent PLEASE just pay attention to your kids!!!!

I haven't been to church (Catholic) in about 15 years and was thinking of starting to go again. I have a 5 year old and a 2 1/2 month old and I want for them to be baptised. I was wondering if it would be wrong to breastfeed my newborn if she happens to get hungry while we're there? (covered of course) Has anyone had to do this?

This is my 4th child but I've never had such a boobaholic like this one! He only wants to nurse and doesn't want any food at all. I started introducing solids at 6 mos a little at a time. I make my own baby food so it's very yummy. He will take a bite here and there but that's about it. He's a chunk (at the 90th percentile) and healthy as can be but should I be concerned that he only wants to breastfeed? I've always had good eaters and they were all breastfed the same. Any information and advice will be appreciated.

my daughter is 3 months and won't go to sleep on her back except at night, and i have to hold her till she falls asleep most of the time. today i was completely drained with her crying because she was tired and wouldn't sleep. she fell asleep on my chest toward me and woke up when i laid her on her back, so i held her till she fell asleep again, and laid her on her belly on the couch (not on a blanket because i didn't want her to grab the blanket in her sleep and pull it to her face, i can see her nose has room to breath and her mouth is also open). is it ok at 3 months to let her sleep that way at naptime? she holds her head up very well when laid on her belly when she is awake, but i worry about sids. should i just learn to live with holding her through naptime? i don't believe in crying it out, i think it is horrible and can't let her cry herself to sleep.
