The research seems inconclusive on this topic. Clomid is considered an L4 drug risk (not sure what this is) which is potentially hazardous to the breastfed infant. Also, since your prolactin hormone is high due to breastfeeding, this will totally inhibit your ability to ovulate. maybe talking to your Ob would be best-good luck!

Clomiphene (Clomid), when given to mothers of babies 4 days old or less, can completely stop milk production. There is no data on whether this would be the case when baby is several months old, but the risk is believed to be minimal. There are no reports of side effects in babies of mothers who take clomiphene. This is according to Dr. Thomas Hale, the world's foremost expert on drugs and breastfeeding (from his book _Medications and Mothers' Milk_, 2002 edition). For more details, see Dr. Hale's Web site in sources section below. You may need to sign in as "guest" to use the site, but you don't have to give any personal information.
P.S. The above answer that states that clomiphene is an "L4" drug is accurate; this means (in this case) that there is some research that shows it can dry up the milk supply--as I mentioned above. L4 in general means "do not use except under extraordinary circumstances" (drugs are rated from L1 to L5, with L1 safest and L5 least safe), but read the Web pages below for more information.

There have been lots of people that have taken Clomid while breastfeeding and nothing has happened.
That doesn't mean nothing won't happen though. I would talk to your Doctor about this one. But then there is no real date on this medicine.
