It is because they are retarded. No body cares that you have an ugly, retarded baby in your car. So do 100000000 other people.
Also, why should you be more careful if there's a baby in the car? You should be careful anyway, no matter who the hell is in the car. Besides, a grown person is more important than a baby. It will be more tragic if an adult dies than if a baby dies. The adult will be missed more.

The signs were originally created for emergency personnel. If a car has been in an accident, then the police or paramedics would know to make sure that the baby was recovered. You are supposed to remove the sign when baby isn't in the car. This was particularly important in the days before car seats were mandated, as there might be nothing to clue anyone in to the fact that there *could* have been a baby in the car.

They're SUPPOSED to be used whenever your baby is riding with you in the car incase of a bad accident. It lets the police/ambulance(whoever is helping) know that there is a baby in the car so they know to look for it. You're also supposed to take the sign out of the window when the baby is not riding with you but now a days people just think they're cute and decorate with them and/or use them just to let people know there's a baby so they don't drive recklessly around them and tailgate them and what not.

My mother-in-law insists that we need one. It's not about the fact that we're proud parents or anything, but more we're warning reckless drivers that if they hit us, they're endangering an infant life, which I believe is a bigger sentance if the child dies than if it's an adult. In our state, anyway. It's not a matter of pride in our area. It's a threat, and possibly a warning.

I don't care that you don't like it- I guess that we all have to put up with things we don't care about.
But I think it's to warn other drivers that the driver of the car may have a mild form of sleep deprivation, so to back off and give more room due to potential delayed reaction times.

I think people put those stickers on their cars because the baby sits in the back seat and to let people know that there is a baby in the car and to please be cautious when following behind them. I put one up in my car to let other drives know.

It started out so that if you were in an accident, the rescue workers would look to find the child in the car. In a bad accident, sometimes babies and children are not where you put them the car seats sometimes become detatched an end up in the floorboard and sometimes worse.

It's so everyone knows a baby is on board so: slow down, back off, and if there's an accident save the baby first.

They are suppose to warn drivers that there is a baby in the car. But I really don't see why we put them in the car because other drivers still don't give a sh*t and drive carelessly.

Because us new parents are proud and we would like to let other crazy drivers out there to be a little extra cautious as we have precious cargo on board!
