Newborn & Baby - August 2006

I guess its for the whole birthday scene and that most people don't know their conception date but if you think about it, we are all nine months (more of less) older than we all say we are. Does anyone know why those nine months are dimissed from our age?

my baby is now 3 weeks and one day old today and during the day he sleeps alot but also is awake alot but when it comes to night time he gets up alot and stays awake alot and i don't no what i can do to get him to sleep i know he has to get up and eat but he won't go back down to sleep for one to two hours and it is killing me. because im so tried me and my husbadn agrue all the time. any opions on what i can do?

She is 5 months old, and her top gums are swolling slightly, drooling alot, wanting to chew on everything, but I thought the bottom teeth come in first? Can the top teeth come in first?

I bottlefed my babies, majority breastmilk, but never nursed directly. I cannot imagine loving them anymore than I already do. Does anyone beleive that bottle/formula feeding parents do not love and bond with their children like breastfeeding mothers do? I can't get it. Love is love. I understood what their cries and babble meant before they could even speak...half sleep, down the hall, three rooms away, I could decipher the cry that meant "I'm poopy" from "I'm hungry" or "Hurry!! I'm poopy and hungry!!"

I looked into their little eyes and could read their thoughts as I held them and fed them their bottles. They read mine too. We shared telepathic laughter, baby smiling with milk oozing down their chin. I have taught my youngest simple games and silly sounds that we alone share, our special things we do. When she sees me, she goes "bbbbrrrrrrrt gooo!" and I go "gooooooo bbbbrrrrttt!!" And we burst into laughter. She's nine months

I am undecided. I want to give breast milk only through bottles by filling them with a breast pump. Are breast pumps allowed in the hospital? I'm going to ask the nurses to give my baby formula while we're in the hospital. Any suggestions.

its almost a week that my baby rarely take a nap and sleep late at night,totally he only sleep for about 10hours a day.but he woke up happy and being active all day.

My newborn is 5 days old. I have been cleaning her umbilical cord stump with alcohol every time I changed her diaper since she was born (like the hospital reccomends). I made the mistake of giving her a bath & letting it get wet & now it is trying to come off prematurely & there is some blood. I rubbed neosporin on it & covered it with a band-aid. Does anyone have any advice for me before I can get her in to see the doctor tomorrow?
