I know how you feel, it's typical isn't it. my cot sides doesn't drop so I have to manage putting baby in on the lowest level I might add, it just means hoisting your stomach over the edge and really stretching down. good luck.

I knew about this problem from when my cousin had her 2 kids so when it came time to buy I bought one that only had a drop panel at the top. The crib is solid in the front and then at the very top it has about a 5-6inch panel that folds down. It's very quiet..but I agree with everyone else. Get your child used to sounds around the house...my daughter is such a sound sleeper now because I used to run the vaccum every night after she went to bed. Every once in a great while she will wake up if I flush the toilet at night....the bathroom is right next to her room so it's understandable. Good luck!

I used to put the baby down in the cot with the side still up, but you really should get baby used to normal household sounds.

Great question and I wish I knew the answer. I am assuming a cot is a crib and every time I raise my daughters side rails after she falls asleep, I wake her up!

If it sqeaks, run a wax candle down the runner area. If the metal mechanism is rattling, tighten it and give it a wee spray with WD40. Then its a quiet cot!

It's not just mine!!! Mine gets jammed and I have to wiggle it to raise it and it wakes the baby up. I've stopped lowering it for the moment because he is high enough to reach, but when he starts to sit I will have to lower the cot and then I will be in trouble!!

Struggling with littlie?? Stop going round as if you're walking on eggshells.
Go and stick the hoover on. Toughen up small person. Otherwise he/she will be a nightmare to look after.
Normal household noises must go on surely.
Quickly run and shut the door and go deaf for a while.

And they never drop equal sides. One side always drops more than the other side and jams. This is 100 % true when you have a fast asleep baby in your hands.

my son doesn't mind. i like to set him in bed and give him a kiss and then put the side up. by then he is either dead asleep or want to be asleep so he doesn't mind. and if he does cry or something, i just say goodnight and leave the room. he doesn't cry for long. loud drop side are only a problem if you make them one.
