Your baby could have blue eyes, even tho the chances are better for brown since that is the dominant color.
My dad had brown eyes, my mom has blue. All 4 of their kids have blue eyes, which seems unusual, but it happened. Of the grandparents, all 4 had blue eyes. But my dad's grandfather had some Spanish, so that's probably where the brown came from in my dad's case.
In your case, your baby will probably have brown eyes. I bet your kids will be beautiful, given the Irish and the Hispanic combo. Just love them and keep their eyes laughing!

A one in four chance of having blue eyes.
But . . . . the baby will also have a one in four chance of looking hispanic and I'm not sure a hispanic with blue eyes is very common.
Either way, who cares, he/she will be a beautiful baby no matter what, because he/she will be a product of your love for each other and that makes all the difference in the world.
Good luck.

It depends on whether or not you have any relatives with blue eyes. Brown eyes are a dominant trait, but you could carry the recessive gene for blue eye colour if you have any blue eyed ancestors.
Assuming that you do carry the recessive blue eyed gene (ie. you are a 'heterozygous' brown-eyed girl) each child would have a 50 per cent chance of having blue eyes. If you are 'monozygotic' (that means that you can only supply brown-eyed genes), then none of your children will have blue eyes, but they will all carry the blue eyed gene (because that is all your fiance has to offer since blue eyes, being a recessive trait are only expressed if the person is monozygotic).
Hope this helps.

It's not likely your baby having blue eyes sense you have brown eyes. Usually if the eyes are brown, the baby takes after the darker color eyes. But my dad has dark brown hair and brown eyes. And I took after my mom with blonde hair and blue eyes, so you never know, there still is a chance it could have blue eyes.

Honey B is right. If either of your parents have blue eyes then there are good chances that your baby will have blue eyes too. If both your parents have brown eyes then the chances of having a blue eyed child are none, but your grandchildren could have blue eyes depending on who your child married. Both my parents have brown eyes but I have grandparents on both sides with blue eyes and I have blue eyes.

Well, if you had a dozen babies, most of them would have brown eyes, because that is dominant over the blue eyes.
However, with only one child, anything can truly happen.
Your first one may just be the one with the blue eyes.

As Hispanic there is a good reason that your forefathers are North Africans as your eyes are brown. The brown eyes colour is the natural eye colour and the blue eye colour is a mutation.
Read the laws of Mendelssohn and you will have the answer. The chances strait upside down is 75% brown eye colour. 26 answers, have all of you already forgotten the laws of Mendelssohn? What did you do at school.

Genes for blue eyes are recessive, and genes for brown eyes are dominant.
If both of your parents have brown eyes, then the baby will most likely have brown eyes, as well (because it means that most likely you carry brown eyes genes only). If one of your parents has blue eyes, then the chances are 50/50.

My mom has brown eyes and my dad has blue eyes. I have green eyes, and my three sisters have blue, gray and brown eyes. I know a lot of people will say brown eyes will always dominate, but not until my youngest sister arrived did any of the kids in my family have brown eyes.
