Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 January 2007

I've been dating my boyfriend for a year. He has a child. He was with his ex for a two of months, they split for one month, then had a one night stand and she got pregnant - this is all before I came on to the scene. My boyfriend's child lives at home with the mother and he has his child 3 days a week. He speaks to his ex at least 2/3 times a day. When I've over heard the conversations he has with her, it's been about his child (he also speaks to his child)... the child is too young to speak (the odd word, like dad; love you etc..) and they also speak about their personal lives. If he has chosen not to be with her why does he have so much involvement? Why cant they speak to each other when he picks his child up or if there is an emergency? He sometimes walks out of the room to speak to her. In fact he speaks to her more often the he does with me! (We don't live together)... My question is... should he have so much contact with the mother of his child?

I mean the husband and wife have the money. They have built a nursery and already have all their blankets and toys ready, with tons of books on pregnancy and common things to expect. They have been to the doctor who has confirmed it is safe for them to have a baby and they have constant checkups.

Honestly, how many pregnancys are completely planned like that?

I am obsessed with having a baby. Most of my friends and family have at least one kid. I went to 3 baby showers in October and I had two this month and 1 next month. I am always browsing in the yahoo, pregnancy section to see what I have to look forward too. When I go to Target or Walmart I always browse in the baby section. When I was shopping for my friends baby shower I took forever just to pick out the perfect gift. I am not even with my husband anymore, we are separated and trying to work things out. Is this a mental disorder or something? How do you get treatment for something like this? There is too many newborns around me and I can't just ignore them.

I am 27wks pregnant and have only just found out i shouldn't eat Feta Cheese or deli meats.. and i've been eating these the whole way through my pregnancy because thats what i've been craving. The feta cheese has been in my salads and the deli meat on sandwiches. How could i not know about this before? I don't know.. i was never told so by my doc....

Now i've discovered i can't eat these things due to the possibility of contracting listeriosis i'm really concerned.

If i stopped eating these things as of right now would my baby be alright or does it have an incubation period? Would i know if it had already harmed baby??

when i recently found out that i was pregnant, i thought i'm going to have this baby dispite me being unprepared for it. My excitement turn to tears when my mother in law, fiancee and father told me not to have this baby. They say the baby will be born with mental retartation due to the fact that my fiancee is on both xanax and methadone. i dont see how if im on no drugs, the baby will not be normal and healthy, they also stated that the reason the baby will be born this way is because the sperm is full of those drugs. According to them, the moment the baby was concieved, it had those drugs in its developing body. Is this true? the last thing i wish to do is abort this child due to my religious believes. Please provide me with answers. im completely and utterly DEVESTATED! Help.

I have a coworker that just got the final approval to adopt a baby. The baby (a girl) is 14 months old and will be here from Guatamala in a few weeks. I was looking online and I noticed that Walmart has 1 hour baby announcements, and I was unsure of the quality of them. When i was pregnant with my first child i thought i had got away with no morning sickness, unfortunatly it got me around the end of my fist trimester and i got it bad!! I was sick all day for about 6 weeks! I am 6 weeks pregnant now and although i feel a little green in the mornings, it hasn't hit yet. I don't remember my last period, but according to an ultrasound that was preformed when I was 10 weeks, I am 33 weeks pregnant, so my delivery date is March 9. Only that at 28 weeks, I had another ultrasound and that changed my delivery to February 19, because the head of the baby at the time had:

femur lenght- 28 weeks
abdominal circumference- 32 weeks
diameter of head- 33 weeks

doctor say it was nothing wrong expect that the baby might be growing a little bigger, but I am not sure when will be my delivery date. Has anyone experience this situation, and when was the real delivery date?

Am i alone here ? If i didn't feed the poor things they'd starve. It's the same with the robot dog they have, they haven't touched it since christmas.
